Electrical Technician
Dubai / Abu Dhabi. Full Time – 2+ years of Electrical Technician Operations & Maintenance experience.
Note: This position requires shift and on-call coverage supporting 24/7 operations.
We are looking for a dependable Electrical Technician to help operate, maintain, and troubleshoot the electrical systems that keep our data center running safely and reliably.
This role suits someone with strong electrical fundamentals, practical troubleshooting experience, and a clear sense of responsibility. You notice developing problems, think through solutions, and follow tasks through to completion. You work confidently with minimal supervision, understand when to escalate, and care about the safety and success of your coworkers.
What you will do
- Operate and monitor. Conduct routine inspections, review alarms and operating readings, and identify abnormal conditions across electrical distribution and backup power systems.
- Maintain equipment. Complete planned maintenance, condition checks, testing, and repairs on low-voltage switchgear, distribution boards, breakers, cables, busways, and associated equipment. Support UPS, battery, generator, and power-transfer system maintenance within your training and authorization.
- Troubleshoot methodically. Use drawings, measurements, equipment history, and sound electrical reasoning to investigate faults. Help identify root causes, recommend corrective actions, and verify that repairs resolve the problem.
- Respond with judgment. Assess electrical alarms, equipment failures, and power interruptions calmly. Follow approved emergency procedures, communicate clearly, and support safe service restoration.
- Work safely and follow procedures. Apply Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) requirements, risk assessments, permits to work, lockout/tagout, and appropriate protective equipment. Stop and escalate unsafe conditions. Perform switching and isolation only when trained and authorized.
- Keep accurate records. Maintain equipment-condition logs, inspection readings, maintenance histories, work orders, and shift handovers. Promptly record and report hazards, near misses, incidents, outstanding defects, and corrective actions.
- Coordinate and communicate. Plan tasks with shift teams, engineers, contractors, and equipment vendors. Confirm responsibilities, work approvals, operational impact, and handover requirements before activities begin. Help keep operating manuals, checklists, and procedures accurate and current.
- Improve how we work. Identify recurring faults, avoidable losses, and opportunities to improve reliability, energy efficiency, safety, and maintenance quality. Propose practical changes and support their implementation through the approval process.
What you will bring
- A recognized electrical trade qualification, technical diploma, or equivalent relevant training and practical experience. Any license required for the work location must be held.
- At least 5 years of hands-on electrical operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting experience, including substantial experience in a 24/7 operating environment.
- A strong foundation in AC/DC circuits, three-phase power, electrical protection, earthing, load distribution, and safe isolation.
- Practical experience with large-scale low-voltage power distribution and familiarity with UPS systems, batteries, generators, and automatic transfer systems.
- The ability to read single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, equipment manuals, and operating procedures, and to use electrical test instruments safely and interpret results.
- An understanding of how changing loads, phase imbalance, power quality, and equipment capacity affect reliable operation.
- Working knowledge of EHS practices, applicable electrical requirements, site compliance procedures, and incident reporting.
- The ability to prioritize routine maintenance, urgent faults, and competing tasks while maintaining accuracy and safety.
- Clear communication and reliable digital record keeping, including maintenance systems, spreadsheets, and written reports.
Particularly valuable: Experience in data center infrastructure, Bitcoin mining facilities, or other continuously operating environments such as industrial plants, utilities, and hospitals. Familiarity with power monitoring systems, thermal inspections, commissioning, and root-cause investigations is an advantage.
Additional Values:
- Having UAE / GCC Driver’s License is a plus
- Language skill in Arabic is a plus (English is must)
