Electrical & Mechanical Engineer – AI Data Center

Dubai / Abu Dhabi. Full Time – 10+ years of Critical Power & Mechanical Infrastructure Engineering experience and must have data center experience.

Note: This position requires shift and on-call coverage supporting 24/7 operations

Engineer the infrastructure behind AI.

We are looking for an experienced Electrical & Mechanical Engineer who can turn complex power and cooling challenges into practical, reliable solutions.

You will design and deliver the critical infrastructure supporting demanding AI and GPU workloads—from incoming electrical supply to rack power, and from facility cooling plants to liquid-cooled servers.

This role requires strong engineering fundamentals, hands-on project experience, and proven capability across both critical power and mechanical systems. You should be comfortable challenging assumptions, working across vendors, and taking responsibility from initial calculations through installation, commissioning, and operational handover.

What you will do

  • Design resilient power systems. Develop electrical architectures covering utility connections, transformers, switchgear, generators, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), earthing, protection, and rack power distribution. Validate capacity, redundancy, fault levels, protection coordination, and power quality.
  • Engineer HVAC and liquid cooling. Design and integrate chillers, pumps, heat exchangers, air handling, precision cooling, and heat rejection systems. Deliver direct-to-chip liquid cooling using coolant distribution units (CDUs), facility water connections, and rack distribution networks.
  • Design for real operating conditions. Account for extreme heat, humidity, dust, cold weather, water availability, and equipment derating. Evaluate performance during changing GPU workloads, rapid load increases, partial occupancy, maintenance, and equipment failures.
  • Solve problems across technologies and vendors. Compare architectures and equipment objectively, verify compatibility, and resolve electrical, mechanical, and controls interfaces. Develop alternatives when standard designs cannot meet site, capacity, schedule, or budget constraints.
  • Take designs into the field. Prepare calculations, drawings, specifications, equipment schedules, and bills of quantities. Review supplier submissions, guide contractors, resolve installation issues, and oversee quality through testing and commissioning.
  • Prove reliability before handover. Develop and witness factory, site, and integrated systems tests—including load changes, power transfers, cooling interruptions, and recovery. Investigate failures, establish root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Make infrastructure measurable and maintainable. Define monitoring, alarms, and control sequences across building, power, and data center management systems. Deliver clear operating procedures, maintenance requirements, and accurate handover documentation.

What you bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, with demonstrated professional capability across electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
  • At least 8 years of relevant engineering experience, including 5 years delivering critical power and HVAC projects for data centers.
  • Hands-on experience delivering liquid cooling for data centers, including commissioning—not solely conceptual design or equipment sales.
  • Strong foundations in power engineering, thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, psychrometrics, and controls.
  • Practical understanding of redundancy, concurrent maintenance, failure modes, and the relationship between electrical continuity and cooling continuity.
  • Experience managing coolant quality, material compatibility, flow, pressure, condensation, leak detection, and the cooling requirements of components that remain air cooled.
  • Experience with multiple equipment manufacturers and engineering tools for electrical analysis, thermal or hydraulic calculations, and design documentation.
  • Clear communication, sound technical judgment, and the ability to explain recommendations through calculations, evidence, and practical trade-offs.

Safety and compliance are part of the design

You must bring strong Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) knowledge and demonstrate its application throughout design, construction, commissioning, and operation.

  • Apply risk assessments, permit-to-work procedures, safe isolation and lockout/tagout, arc-flash precautions, and controls for pressure systems, refrigerants, chemicals, and lifting activities.
  • Design to applicable local regulations, authority requirements, electrical and fire codes, and relevant IEC/NFPA standards and ASHRAE guidance.
  • Identify hazards early, document compliance, and ensure safe access, operation, maintenance, and emergency response.

What will set you apart

Experience with high-density GPU clusters, live data center upgrades, modular deployments, or projects across different climates and regions. Professional engineering registration and relevant data center or HSE credentials are valued.

Above all, we want someone who asks “What happens if this fails?”, challenges a design when the evidence demands it, and develops solutions that can be built, tested, operated, and maintained.

Apply with evidence of your engineering
